Archbishop's Palace

Archbishop’s Palace

Maidstone Borough Council needed to find a new use for the Archbishop’s Palace in anticipation of the end of a lease for office use. Four potential uses of the Palace were considered and developed as part of the study: co-working office, training and seminar centre, wedding and seminar centre and a boutique hotel. A cost appraisal and outline business case were provided as part of each option.

Connections between the Palace and immediate town context were also studied and initial thoughts given on potential improvements. We promoted the possibilities of a heritage-led identity for the town, and illustrated examples of how major projects could contribute to better links between assets and the Town Centre.
